Progress update on Godley Green Garden Village

Site investigation work has recently commenced at Godley Green Garden Village, as part of the ongoing efforts to refine and enhance plans for this transformative development.

This key part of the programme allows the technical team to progress detailed design for essential infrastructure, including roads, drainage systems, and utility services. To ensure accuracy and thoroughness, several additional surveys have been identified and initiated across the site.

Levels surveys

A survey of levels continues the site to provide a full dataset on the site's topography. This critical step ensures a complete understanding of the land's elevations and contours, aiding infrastructure planning and construction decisions.

Tree surveys

Tree surveys are being carried out in areas that were previously inaccessible. These surveys will provide valuable insights into the site's environmental aspects, ensuring plans respect and preserve important habitats and areas of biodiversity.

Ecology surveys

Targeted ecology surveys are also underway to ensure full site coverage and are scheduled to be completed by early August. These surveys will support the village's commitment to environmental sustainability and biodiversity.

Geophysical Surveys

Additional geophysical surveys are taking place across the site to enhance the understanding of the underground conditions. These surveys are instrumental in gaining insights into the site's historic environment and geological features, enabling informed and responsible development.

Ground Investigation Work

Starting on 23 June 2025, further ground investigation work will be conducted by Rogers Leask over a five-week period. Their team will establish a site cabin and compound facilities on land off Mottram Old Road.

Following this setup, plant and equipment will be deployed to gap locations across the site for trial pits and borehole excavations. This process is vital for understanding soil and ground conditions.

 All trial holes will be backfilled after the investigations.
