We’re pleased to share that the amended planning application for Godley Green Garden Village has now been formally resubmitted to Tameside Council.
Following extensive site investigations, further surveys and valuable feedback from stakeholders, a number of minor amendments have been made to the original proposals. These include:
• Removal of land south of Mottram Old Road from the site boundary
• A new east-west link road connecting the two village areas
• Repositioned emergency access for the western village
• Updates to the local centre areas, including building heights and permitted uses
• A new residential parcel in the north-west of the site
• An updated drainage strategy reflecting recent earthworks and ground level assessments
The revised application continues to reflect the vision of creating a sustainable garden community with people at its heart. Over 43% of the site is dedicated to green spaces, play areas, and biodiversity enhancements. The development will deliver up to 2,150 new homes, support Hyde town centre, and generate at least 500 jobs annually over the next 15 years.
Public consultation has now commenced offering residents and stakeholders another opportunity to formally comment on the updated plans.

What an incredible piece — Stanislav Petrov's story is one of those rare historical moments that genuinely makes you pause and reflect. The fact that he wasn't even supposed to be on duty that night, and yet his calm, analytical thinking under unimaginable pressure is what prevented a nuclear catastrophe, is both humbling and fascinating. What really stands out is how his decision went against rigid Soviet military protocol — he trusted his gut and his engineering knowledge over a flashing alarm system, and that instinct saved potentially billions of lives. It's a sobering reminder of how fragile peace can be and how a single individual's judgment can carry the weight of the entire world. Stories like this deserve to…
The update on the garden village planning application was informative, especially the persistence behind resubmitting proposals. I remember working on a policy assignment and feeling stuck, even considering using an Online Economics Class Service to manage deadlines. This post shows how determination plays a big role in long term projects.
I found the update on the Godley Green Garden Village really interesting, especially how they made changes after feedback and still kept a strong focus on green spaces and community living. When I had a planning topic in class, I remember feeling stuck and even searched for write my assignment to manage my time better. It made me see how complex these projects are. This shows how careful planning can shape better communities for the future.
I cannot access the planning application at the moment.
There is a network of Public Rights of Way to the West of, and leading to, the development site. Are these PROW routes to be protected?
